World Summer Games, Athens 2011

The Special Olympics World Games will be the
crowning of a long lasting movement founded in 1968 by a great women.
Eunice Kennedy Shiver, who managed to realise her dream of a globel
magnitude.
From June 25th to July 4th 2011 in Athens, 7,500 Special
Olympics Athletes from 185 nations will compete in 22 Olympic sports.

As you can see Special Olympics IOM has launched its own
website the link to this is on the front page, it would
be a shame to lose all the information up to the launch
as I have paid out a substantial amount over the years
keeping everyone informed of our travels and the many
photos displayed of our athletes in the many countries
that we have competed in. Also many of you know I had
just upgraded the design and purchased new software, only
due to changing jobs twice in the last 6 months &
training commitments.I have been unable to convert the old
pages from the old website to the new site quickly
enough for which I apologise. Anyway I have decided to
delete all reference to the committee, coaches etc. and
just keep it as a record of the years 1985 to 2011. As
most of you know this is my last trip with Special
Olympics it is to the home of my sport, Greece, the
athletics team will be staying in the resort of Marathon
so a great end to a very successful career for me in
athletics. I have loads more information and photo's
still unseen to keep the website going for at least a few
more years until the hosting contract runs out so please
call back every now and then to see the changes. I have
enjoyed just under 10 years with Special Olympics Isle
of Man and have had an exciting roller coaster ride with
them shed a few tears, had many a laugh and will always
have many fond memories.

Special Olympics Isle of Man Coach's
Athletics

Training is on Friday evenings at the NSC, Douglas out door track
starting at 6pm all athletes are charged £1.90 for the use of the
athletics track.
In the 2006 European Athletics Championships, Rome,
Italy the athletics team won 3 gold, 4 silver,1 bronze.
2007 World
Summer Games, China the athletics team won 1 silver medal, 4th
twice.
2010
European Athletics Championships Warsaw, Poland 2 gold, 2 silver, 2
bronze.

Graham Davies is a UK Athletics
level 3 qualified coach and level 3 technical official. CRB checked,
First Aid, Health & Safety certificate, attended a Child
Protection course has over 40 years experience
in local athletics. |

Aquatics
 |
Training is on Tuesday evening at the NSC,
Douglas starting at 7pm. A fee is payable for the use of the Baths
on a term to term basis. |

Barry Dulson is a qualified level 1 Swimming
Coach and the family liaison officer on the Committee.CRB checked,
First Aid, RLSS Lifesaver and has attended a Child protection
course. |

Badminton

Training is on Monday Evening after Keep fit
at 7pm, Centre 21, Douglas
David was assistant Head Coach for the World Winter Games in Idaho,
USA the Isle of Man winning every game on the way to taking the Gold
medal. David has been ever present in the training of many of the
Islands teams and was in China 2007 as a parent supporting the Isle
of Man team. David has been appointed Head Coach for Badminton and
will attend the World Summer Games in Greece.

his level 1 Badminton Coaching course. David has been selected as
